This paper presents an open source XQuery/XSLT processor named Saxon-B, and its extension to support execution of queries in presence of XLink hyperlinks in XML documents. Saxon-B is a version of Saxon implemented in Java, but using tools like IKVM .NET makes it posible to work in .NET platform as well. Saxon-B is a pioneer processor implementing XSLT 2.0, XPath 2.0 and XQuery 1.0 also known as an in-memory processor, i.e., it loads XML documents in memory before executing any expression. Moreover, Saxon-B is a non-server based processor able to query XML documents located in a local computer or in the Web. This feature makes Saxon-B easily embedded within different code applications. Saxon-B does not support querying XML documents in presence of XLink hyperlinks. With extention of Saxon-B to support XLink hyperlinks we have developed a prototype named BOTA. BOTA can be used in web applications such as query XML documents for RSS or Web Services applications.
